Frans Sturkenboom is an architect and a lecturer at the Academy of Architecture in Arnhem and the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam. He is teaching architectural theory and history. He is also a researcher at the Professorship Theory in the Arts at Artez University of the Arts in Arnhem. Among his publications we find essays on Frank Lloyd Wright, Carlo Scarpa, Francesco Borromini, and Aldo Rossi.  He just published a book on gesture in architecture, ‘De Gestiek van de architectuur’ (Arnhem, Artez Press, 2017) in which he analyses the late twentieth century shift from an architecture of space to an architecture of (deep) surface. He is currently doing a PhD (‘Time in the work of Frank Lloyd Wright’) at the Technical University of Delft.
